Do you have a old suitcase ?
I have a set from my Great Grandmother. I have been trying to decide how to display and have it be functional as well.
I really wanted to paint the suitcase but my Grandma would absoulutely not go for that. I see suitcases all the time at the consignment shop and second hand stores that you could paint and not feel guilty about.
I decided to make my suitcase into a book and tape listening station for the kids. Now they can have easy access to the books and clean them up just as easily.
So step 1- If you can paint the suitcase do it.
Step 2- Gather miscellainous books. I did books on tape for my kids. They love to listen while following along in the book. It has been such a pain to have to drag everything out when they want to listen to the tapes.
Step 3- If you are going to use books on tape you will need to drill a hole in the back of the suitcase for the cord to come through. I used a 1/4" drill bit.
Step 4- Load your case up with books,tapes and the recorder. Find a good place near a plug to store your new decorative and functional suitcase. I absolutely love it. It is out of the way, cleaned up and looks great !
